yellow sponge killing frogspawn

For the past couple weeks my frogspawn hasn't been fully inflating. I noticed that some of the tissue at the base of the skeleton heads has started to recede. I believe I have found the culprit. This yellow sponge which started on the rock that the frogspawn is on has climbed up the frogspawn and is now just completely taking it over. I'm not quite sure what to do? I have read that saturating the sponge with peroxide would kill it? Any thoughts?

Sponges don't do well exposed to air. If you could hold the coral upside down trying to keep the polyps in the water and the sponge out of the water, that would kill it. Try exposing it for like 30 sec.

I am going to throw a thought out there. This doesn't really look like a sponge but more like a bacterial infection. Not necessarily brown jelly but a bacterial colony of some sort that is feeding on something. Did you try dipping the coral in anything?

I've had a sponge on a torch colony before. It was yellow too. Air force could be right because the sponge never bothered the coral. Me on the other hand, I couldn't stand the looks of it.

I had a coral which came with black and white sponges. I just scraped them off with a sharp knife and repeated the procedure when I found smaller ones growing. I think you could try that. If yours is a sponge it'll have a hard feel to it but can be scraped off easily enough. If you choose to do this it's best to thoroughly rinse the coral in tank water before re-introducing it to your tank
