Yellow tang and flame angel not eating

I just got a flame angel and a yellow tang; I have yet to see them eat. I have seen them picking at the rocks. I have tried to feed them mysis and algae sheets but have yet to see them eat. I was thinking about adding garlic to the food in order to entice them to eat. What kind of garlic products do you guys recommend? I hope I am just over reacting since it's only been 24 hours since I added them. The tang is out and about the tank he doesn't look stressed and it's not dashing all over the place as if he was scared. The angel looks to be a little shy, as soon as I get close to the tank he will hide. Then he will come out when I step away from the tank.
Any input will be appreciated.
:worried:

If it's only been 24 hours I wouldn't worry too much, they're still getting use to their new environment. I have a yellow longnose butterfly that took a week before it accepted anything, now it eats like a pig! Give them a couple days to get comfortable.

Dont lose hope, I had the same problem when I introduced my flame angel. I was worried sick that it hadnt eaten although it was picking on the rocks

I tried feeding it NLS pellets, formula 1, 2, spirulina, brine flakes, mysis but it ignored everything

On the 7th day, when I was on the verge of giving up, I looked at the box of Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef Flakes, which had a picture of a flame angel on it and tried one last time.,,,, guess what?... it started eating and now readily accepts any food.

Never had a problem with my yellow tang though. Its been greedy since day one

Do you have a QT tank? If so, you can do the hypo in there, or if your display tank is coral & invert free you could perform the hypo right in the main display.

Check the archives for specifics on performing hypo, but in short you basically lower your salinity (over a period of several days) to about 1.009. Just make sure to monitor your ammonia levels during this time, as I always see slight spikes in ammonia when performing hypo in my QT tank.

There are really only 3 effective ich treatments and all should be done in a separate HT/QT. Copper, hypo, pr tank-transfer. I usually prefer copper; but Flame angels are extremely sensitive to it, so you're left with the other two. Avoid any "reef safe' cure the LFS may sell you; they don't work. Please read all the ich-related stickies at the top of the disease section of the forum. All of your fish need to be treated for ich, you need a QT/HT, and this isn't an easy job. After you get this taken care of, I strongly suggest you use a QT with all new fish, or this will drive you out of this great hobby eventually. Also, I'd suggest reading a good book on SW fishkeeping cover to cover. Bob Fenner's "the Conscience marine Aquarist' would be my first choice. If you need some help with treating ich, do the reading and let us help you.

The fish seem fine it must have been a little sand. The angel is eating mysis and spirulina brine. The tang wont tuch it however he is eating dry seaweed and red Gracilaria. They are also picking at the live rock.
