Yellow tang isn't eating

I got him a few days ago and he doesn't appear to be eating. I've tried feeding frozen brine shrimp, some flake food, and have left some nori on a clip, but he hasn't touched anything.

I have a lot of the algae in the tank, could he be eating this when I'm not watching?

He isn't breathing hard or looking stressed...I just haven't seen him eat!

Yes, a starving fish would generally have shrunken stomach. Also if you look at the fish directly from the front its head should not be wider than the back; there should be a definate thickness all down the back of the fish. You should also not be able to see the spine or any bones through the skin.

It may very well be eating macros while you aren't looking. Sometimes they take awile to adjust to captivity and associate you with food, just keep trying but don't pollute your tank.

Make sure your fish has plenty of hiding places so it doesn't feel constantly exposed.

Exactly. It took both my yellow and powder blue tangs almost two weeks before I saw them picking off the rocks. Now they're eating machines. Keep doing what you're doing and eventually he'll go for it.
