Yellow Tang killed my female clown

Tonight I look over after watching a show and find my female clown rolling around upside down! No more than 10 minutes before it was doing just fine and swimming with her mate. Upon closer examination I find what I assume to be two small puncture wounds, one on either side of the fish. How often does this happen? The pair has been together for almost 3 years so its very sad. I'm wondering if the yellow tang got spooked and smacked the clown before looking, he loves hanging around the clowns but I have never seen them be aggressive towards one another.

I never heard something like that. Tangs and clowns rarely take care of each other

I have the pair of clowns, the yellow tang and a diamond goby, thats it. The tang has never really swam around much. Its always hanging out with the clowns or watching us from the front corner.

i've seen tangs just flip, my purple tang just all of a sudden started tail whipping a lawn mower blenny...killed that....sometimes makes me wander if they really have a personality and love just killing each other lol..
