Unfortunately, it is not gone, it is just reproducing and waiting for the next round. Tanks get ich, fish are merely temporary hosts that allow it to reproduce. Please read the stickies on cryptocaryon irritans and also make sure it is not oodinium which requires different treatment.

Your tang almost certainly has ich (or other parasites) in its gills and other places that aren't visible. The white spots are not the actual parasite. As Snorvich said, you can't just ignore ich and expect it to go away. If ich is "mostly gone"; that really means nothing. The only thing "mostly gone" is a temporary lull in the spots you see. Your substrate is likely loaded with developing parasites and your tank will soon be really loaded with the next generation of parasites. Pleas do the research; knowledge of parasites and their life cycles is vital info.
