Yellow tang ?

I had an outbreak of ick and lost 3 of my 4 fish. The only one that survived was my yellow tang. I now have set up a QT and after having him in there for two and a half months now am ready to restock and try again. My question is this, the yellow tang is very agressive and should be one of the last fish added right? So will i be alright adding more docile fish with him already in there.

how did you treat the tang? not related to the question but important.

you have a QT setup and a regular tank or you used your display as a QT?

if he is in a seperate QT leave him there till you are done stocking the display again.

yes you can add at the same time that is a great way to add them but don't add to many fish at once or you will start the cycle again :(

i thought i always heard if you have a tang and you add a tang with the same type body they fight. or is this not true?

If they are congeners (from the same Genus, i.e., Zebrasoma) the likelihood of fighting is higher.

Probably not. If you were adding equally large or aggressive fish, you'd probably be ok. I've known of YT's to kill every new smaller fish added once the YT is established. Doesn't happen with all YT's, but it does happen.
You might consider having a friend or your LFS hold the YT while you restock, or possibly setting up a second QT for the smaller fish, stocking them, then adding the YT.

i am always amazed at the level of knowledge this group has. its like there is a college course for this stuff. i have been reading the book "marine aquaria and miniature reefs" by dr. c.w. emmens . its like a brain overload
