Yellow Tangs

Sorry if this has been asked before but how many yellow tangs can I add to my 180? I was looking at two or three but not sure I have enough room to avoid aggression. I thought I read somewhere that it is best to add an odd number of tangs at once, is that true? I would prefer two but as I have not purchased them yet was looking at what would be the best way to go. By the way the tank is a fully functioning sps reef that has been running for three years.

IMO; you could add 3 if they were all added at the same time and were similar in size.
+1. 3 maximum if its a 6ft tank. I'd say two to be on the safe side. There are other tangs you can add. A hippo would look nice if it's not too large or even a purple or Chevron if you have the money laying around.

A large hippo would already be too large for a six foot tank. It would pace back and forth.

Regardless of DT size 2 or 3 yellow tangs seldom ever works very well, sometimes, but it is rare. I would recommend 5 or only 1. Yellow tangs are a schooling fish and are far less aggressive when housed properly. When people complain about how mean yellow tangs are it is generally because they are housed as sole individuals, ime, when in groups they are very passive.
