Yellow Watchman Goby Questions

I have a 12g JBJ Nano Cube that I am trying to decide what type of fish to stock it with. The Yellow Watchman Goby has been on the top of my list for some time now until I seen a few post about people not seeing them very much at all in their tank. Since I have such a small tank and can only keep 2 maybe 3 fish max I am afraid that if I get a YWG I may never see it. Can anyone that has one of these give me their experience with the YWG?

I had one in a larger tank i would see him every know and again they hide a lot pretty cool fish to watch mine just died a couple of months ago had him for almost 10 years i would think in your size tank you would see more of him would be pretty cool to get a ywg and a pistol shrimp pair..Good luck..

You should see him plenty in your tank. They aren't active swimmers but they shouldnt be hiding all the time either, he should be perched out front of a cave guarding his house.

You will see your goby when he gets comfortable, just don't expect to actively swim in the water column. I see mine almost every time I walk by the aquarium, he is just perching right in front of his cave waiting for me to feed.

ive heard they are pretty active IF peaceful fish are present so if u want one dont not get a damsil or anything that would bully a peaceful fish like a YWG. just keep peaceful fish

get one paired with a pistol shrimp... then he will always be on the lookout in front of their shared burrow would be really cool to have in a pico tank

Well I have one in my 75 gal and see him out quite a bit. He's usually just sitting outside of his cave guarding it. He will chase fish away that come too close to him and he out eats the other fish in the tank. I have all other peaceful tankmates though. Every great once in awhile he'll swim in the water column looks like he just glides letting the water push him around. I find him pretty entertaining.

Thanks for the awesome information on this. Would a YWG get along with a Green Banded Goby or do you think they would fight?

I've had them for quite some time and they are quite active and present in the aquarium

Mine is always visible. Hangs out on a few different acros and such. Never hides
