Yellow Watchman Goby

We have a 29 Gallon biocube. We had a well adjusted Yellow Goby and pistol shrimp and a banghai cardinal and a week ago today we added a scopas tang and a scooter blenny. The banghai seems fine but now the goby will not come out of his home even during feeding time. Is he going to be okay? Does he just need more time to adjust?

Are the other fish chasing him back in whenever he comes out? I've found with small gobies, especially in small tanks, any aggressive feeders tend to scare them back into their home whenever food comes by. I've had to distract the other fish with an abundance of food before giving them anything.

Try dropping sinking pellets by his burrow. That's all I feed mine and he loves them. If you get them close enough to the burrow he may be enticed to come out and grab some. IMHO, a Scopas tang really needs a larger tank, especially a longer one; it may be frightening the goby into his burrow since it has such a small territory to swim. Just my 2 cents. I really hope your goby comes around, good luck!

We are pretty new to this and we read online that the scopas tang would need a bigger tank but were assured by the people at the Aquarium store (granted they probably just wanted our money) that because he was a small tang he would be fine for quite a while. I have to admit though I am beginning to wonder if you are correct.
Are there any fish you would suggest that swim around more than the Banghai Cardinal but that would be okay with him as a tank mate and would live in our size tank okay? (Reef Safe) We hope to have more corals one day!

Trust me, they just wanted your money. Any responsible aquarist would tell you that there is NO tang that is suitable for that tank size. Minimum recommended size for a scopas is 75g. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1946079 I'd suggest returning it to the LFS and trading it in on a nano-friendly fish.
