yellow watchman goby

I have a yellow watchman goby in my ap24 and have had for about 4 months and recently he has started to lose his color he used to be a bright yellow but now he is turning a yellow gray color

Perhaps he's a female? I knokw some ywgs exhibit grayish tones as females.

Maybe it has to do with his diet (more likely imo)?

My YWG turned completely white once for a couple hours. Not exactly sure what he/she was doing it for, but the next morning he was back to bright yellow again.

Nobody messes with him either, he's like a grumpy old man. So I'm sure it wasn't because of aggression.

Maybe he just needed a change of clothes?

Mine turned gray the day after he was added to the tank. I was convinced it was because he was going to die. He made it fine. I guess it's a natural thing?
