yellow wrasse

I bought one yesterday. Acclimated it no problem. Parameters in check. If they usually hide in the sand when they are stressed. How long before I should see it? Saw it for a few minutes and that was it. Was checking others experiences with them. Wondering if they were shy at first. Thank you.

Mine was not to sees 4 about 2 days. Now it just burries down in the evening. They are good jumpers, so I checked around the tank alot the first days ;)

it depends, mine was out and all over the place when i put him in.
sometimes he also hides for a couple of days.

make sure u have a lid.

+1 on the lid. My yellow "coris" wrasse took 2-3 days to come out of the sand. Keep in mind that their internal clocks have probably not adjusted to your lighting schedule, so they may be up at "off" hours.

In QT, do you have to put a bowl of sand in there? or would they be ok with just pvc? I was going to get one as my next fish and I am going to QT it first. My carpenter's flasher seems ok without sand, but I'm not sure flashers bury themselves.

Anyone had one of these long term? I was wondering if they developed the facial color/pattern or is that a rarity?

they are not actually a "coris" wrasse its actually just a common name that has noting to do with the type of wrasse they are; I actually own one and mine took about two days to start venturing out. And the colors will come sooner later or later but it will. I personally like the reds and greens in the adult coloration. Oh and they will grow to be about 7 inches.

I had one of those years ago. It was so pretty and fun to watch but within a week it jumped out a tiny opening in the back of my acrylic tank:(

So far it is Friday and still in the sand. Placed the fish in tuesday. My convict goby made a big sand pile the night before. I leveled out the sand and the yellow wrasse came out swam ariunf went right back in.

I geuss im the only one who hasnt had theres jump out after a week ive had mine since april and it comes out all the time he goes in the sand like half an hour after the lights go of but when i first got it he would dive into the sand when i came near the tank and he eats anything and everything its awsome i love it

Had mine 7 years, but it didn't start developing the green/pink facial pattern until the last year. It jumped, and my dog found it before I did. You can never tell when they'll go carpet surfing, so be sure to have a tight fitting cover. My guy was always the first one up and last to go to bed.

If in QT I would definitely try the tupperware filled with sand trick. That's where they sleep. Flashers and fairies build a slime cocoon.
