Yellowfin Angelfish (Centropyge flavipectoralis)

Hi all!

I did a search for info about this fish and didn't see any posts since 2012 and not very many before then. None of them had much useful information.

So, I'm looking for some first hand experience! My research says they seem to be similar in behavior to Coral Beauty angels, is this accurate?

Does anyone have experience keeping them with small fish, such as a shoal of Red Spot Glass Cardinals? I've read the Yellowfin is a bit aggressive.

Also, how big a risk would one be to clams?

Thanks for any info!

I don't have first hand experience, but my LFS had one and he said they are pretty much like the Coral Beauty, but having the possibility of getting just a tad bit bigger. He said it was basically the same fish, just different colors. For as being a risk to a clam, there is a possibility that any angel can be a nipper. That's why you most of the time reef-safe with caution, meaning it can be hit or miss. I wouldn't recommend putting that one in a 40 gallon, maybe look into a Cherub Dwarf, gets a little smaller and a probably a little less aggressive.
