yep its a mantis

its a mantis alright and very colorful . I have been hearing clicking in the tank for a while and just recently saw him banging on a rock. Should I been concerned he is about a inch long can he do damage to glass or my fish

Not knowing what species this is, I can't assure you that this stomatopod will never be a threat, but even if it is a gonodactyloid that reaches 3 or 4 inches in length, that would take years. Relax, the animal will not be a danger to your fish for a year or two - if then - and it certainly is not going to break your tank.
