Alright! Water is in it, but only for a test. LOL! Stocking plans are zoo's, ric's, and some LPS pieces...


Tonight I did my water test and it holds great! Now for the bad news... Too much piping, and not enough water pressure. The flow was so low that I couldn't even feel the water coming out. To fix this I changed the pump to run 3 ports (one side) instead of all 6 and now I need to get another pump to run the other side (another week to get here ).

Too bad that Via Aqua is not strong enough ... still you're getting pretty good water movement just off those 3 ports I'm sure it'll be great with 6!

Yeah, I'm ordering another Via Aqua today to run the other 3 so it should be good to go by the end of the week. I'm going to focus on getting the shelf built and electrics figured out in the mean time...

Yea, I was skeptical about how taht pump would work with 6 outlets. Well lets look on the bright side, now you will have TWICE as much current!

It's strange 3 ports pump about 10 times as much as it did with 6 ports so the initial T must be what's killing the pressure... Oh well another pump will be here Thursday.

do you plan to have a BB tank?? if you had sand, wouldnt sand make it difficult for you to remove and put back the black cover? other than that, the tank looks crazy...i wish i had DIY skills like you

BB or Sand is still to be determined... If I do go with sand it will be SSB just for looks and will most likely be only in front of the rocks. In the event that sand were to be blown behind the rocks then yes the cover would have an issue if removed. In the event that happens a back up plan is to remove a little material off the bottom of the cover and add pieces of acrylic to the two front corners to keep the cover from dropping lower...
