So im about to start to dose my 75g tank and have figured with my sump im running about 90g. I have a couple small SPS frags and some coraline algae. Tank has been up and running for about 5 months. My readings are:
Cal 390
Alk 9.6
PH 8.4

I have Bionic to dose and think that my PH and my Alk are where they need to be?? Looking to raise my Cal though. If i only dose for Cal at this time will it effect my Alk if i dont dose it also seeing how its in range?? Thanks for any input and where can i find a dosing calculator at??
:spin1:

No you can dose just the calcium part of the 2 part. I dose one or the other as needed. Ph and alk are good, calcium could come up a bit. 400-450 is ideal calcium level. If you only have a few sps frags water changes should be enough to replenish all trace elements. What salt are you using? Just wondering cause your cal is low and your cal demand seems light.
As for a dosing calculator there is not one (that I know of) as every tank's needs are different. Test weekly so you can monitor your levels, this will help you find out what your tank uses and what to dose and how much.

Dosing just calcium will not effect your alk. ;)

Keep in mind the calculator is based on total water volume which does not include sand and rock and equipment. I would dose about half the requirement and then check your level. You may need to change your total water volume based on the results.

I agree that dosing calcium won't make a measurable change in alkalinity as long as you don't overdose. That calcium level is fine, IMO, but using the B-Ionic is fine to raise it. It's cheaper over time to get a less expensive source of calcium, though, as B-Ionic is very pricey for that purpose.
