Yet another ID thread

Got this guy tonight...what is he? Sorry about the bad pics.

Sorry, I just can't get the detail needed for an Id. Can you get a picture straight down on the telson. The side shots just don't help.

I'll try, but he doesn't much like being in that glass bowl :lol: Do you have any ideas as to what he might be?

Another question, it will probably be a stupid one, but do smashers dig burrows? My little guy looks like he kind of dug a tunnel under a piece of live rock but it's got two ends and he's never in it. Should I put more sand in the tank and add PVC tubing? Any general idea as to what my mantis is? His raptoral appendages are speckled as is his carapace, at least the part behind his head. I'll try and get a telson pic but he doesn't like to be out and about too awful much and I am afraid to stress him by catching him and putting him in a glass bowl again.

They will dig under rocks trying to find cavities.

So if I put a piece of PVC in there with a deeper sand bed, will he use it?

maby, maby not... I set up my 30 gal for a peacock and put pvc in there and covered it with rocks, the mantis never went into the PVC burro...he just dug under it... some people have mantis that only use the PVC...its a 50/50 chance
