There's bits looking like G Smithii, but also like G Chiragra to me (a complete novice BTW), but lacking the two red telson spots for Smithii, and head spots usual in Chiragra??????

Can you get any pics of the meral spots on the "upper arm) of the beasty.

You know the Dr will probs be able to say straight away.
 
I can't see the key characters, but if it is from the Caribbean, it is probably Neogonodactlylus curacaoensis. I assume the meral spots are white.

No, the rock came from Tonga. I can't take any more pictures because the animal already has a new home.
 
Well, then, it is probably G. smithii, but I can't see either the meral spots which should be purple or the red knobs at the base of the uropods. The sharpness of the telson carinae is right as is the overall color and the outside of the distal raptorial propodi.
