Yet another pyramid snail question

I have what I'm positive are pyramid snails, and I didn't know what they were until a few days ago, when I bought my clam. The clam didn't bring any snails with it (I'm sure of that) but these snails were already in my tank, I just didn't know what they were. Will they go after my new clam, or are they species specific to whatever they were preying on before I got my clam? Thanks.

Yup. Astrea snails. They can come in on them too.

If you are positive, then get a wrasse or something to start controlling them.

i dought they will harm you clam

I would recommend doing some research before giving advice. The last post of yours I saw stated that Bristle Worms will eat Sea Horses.

You don't want these snails in your tank. Six-Line Wrasses are known to eat these snails. Keep an eye on your clam at nighttime as these snails are very active then. Check under the mantle as they may be hidden there and feeding on the clam.

Yep, read the WWM article, but thanks.

The snails are not as defined as they are in the pic in Barry's article, more like semi-transparent cone shaped snails about 2-3mm long.

I will be getting a six line or a yellow coris soon just in case....don't want them harming my clam.

Thanks

Cool. These snails have decimated my astreas...they're mostly all dead. :\ Getting a wrasse on Saturday.
