Yoccm's 300G DD In Wall Build

Light looks great Chris. Nice to see some life going in there.

Thanks Brett - does feel good to finally have something to actually look at in the tank:spin3:

And thanks for the comment on the lights. For all the planning and fretting over it I have to say I am completely happy and satisfied with the outcome.

Chris, that light fixture looks AWESOME and as Brett said, it is great to see some life in there!

Thanks Mike - I appreciate it. As I am working on my wish list for stocking the tank I have to say I am finding alot of Wrasses on the list. I have been inspired by some of the images of your tank and how beautiful this species of fish is. I will likely be begging for some advice in the future on their care and nurturing.

What is that in the last pic? I bought a snail with some of that on it.

I believe they are called Pipe Organ Coral (Tubipora musica)

I think alot of people confuse them for star polyps but these have the hard calcerous stalks that the coral polyps extend from vs the soft base of the star polyps

I ended up hiring a moving company to get it in the basement .... they only sent 4 guys to do it but they were insured so if it got dropped or broken the movers would foot the bill for the replacement.

I know you live like 45 mins from me, but what company did you use as I can not find anyone to move my tank into the house once it gets here....

Not even the LFS I am buying the tank from will touch it.

I used Corrigan movers. They sent 4 guys and it cost me a few hundred bucks but well worth it! They definitely earned their pay wrestling that beast into the basement. I got lucky that it fit through the window right next to the stand. It would have been a lot harder to try to get it thru the house and down the stairs.

I will try to dig up a number and PM you.

Well the inevitable algae bloom has begun. :worried:

Brown algae covering non shaded areas of rock and sand. I just ordered a clean up crew from Live Aquaria.

60 scarlet hermits
60 blue hermits
60 astrea turbo snails
40 nassarius snails
30 cerith snails
6 peppermint shrimp
5 emerald crabs

I already have 2 urchins and a sea cuke. Am also planning to get a couple fighting conchs and several brittle stars from the LFS.

New CUC is definitely earning it's keep. Starting to turn the tide on the algae. Also, been running bio pellets for about 2 weeks. Just tested PO4 .. It was 0.00!!!!!

Was .12 when I put the pellets on line.

You've gotta love when the hanna says 0.00.

Yeah - I was very happy! I also had a chance to check Nitrates which have been a bit high for awhile now. They are also at zero!:bounce3::bounce2:

I have also noticed a significant increase in the volume and the nastiness of the skimmer output as well. Bio pellets seem to be doing the trick. I got the neck cleaner installed on the SRO and am loving it.

Well I am off to Paris tonight on business for the next week. I have left the care of the tank in the hands of my 17 y/o son. He has really been into the nitty gritty of it with me so I am sure he can handle it.

I will try to post a few pics when I get back in town.

looking great!!

Thanks!! Been awhile since I updated - been busy travelling with work. Tank is still doing well - only issue is dealing with dino outbreak. Not too terrible but need to address. Planning on raising PH and doing a lights out period and then reducing photoperiod for awhile as well. May also try Algae X but only if this doesn't work.

Here are some shots of some new adds

Well the good news is my 4 day light out seems to have dealt with the dinos!! No sign of them for over a week now. I still have a feeling they aren't done with me yet.

The bad news is the green hair algae outbreak has started. :worried:
It is very minor at this point but watching it closely. The water still tests great - PO4 is 0 as is ammonia nitrite and nitrate.

Gotta love maturing a new tank!!
