please share more info. I would love to keep one, but don't think I could get it to eat.
i would recommend either single female, or a bonded pair. for whatever reason the males seem harder to introduce new foods to. my female has always been the first to try anything.
food size is important. they have jaws similar to seahorses, so making sure things are small enough to allow them to eat easily is a big one. live white worms and live black worms, live brine shrimp, hikari myses, blood worms, flakes, pellets, are all good foods to try. mine especially like to eat nori off the clip too.
they require a lot of regular feedings, especially while in QT. they didn't tolerate prazi treatment too well, it suppressed their appetite more than i was comfortable with, but they made it through TTM just fine.
water quality needs to be impeccable. i also planned a few years in advance and stocked my tank with fast growing, easy, SPS. to help supplement their diet, and make sure that they were getting at least some of their normal nutrition. they don't hurt the corals, and are mostly after slime from what i can see. i still get exceptional growth, just no polyp extension.
here's my thread. they're not impossible, just very difficult. however, like with most fish in this hobby, given good animals and the proper conditions, they thrive. mine even spawn.

it will be 3 years this december that i've had them.
-edit- i should also point out that i got my pair from Live Aquaria Driver's Den, and i would STRONGLY recommend anyone considering these fish does the same. you have to keep an eagle eye on their sale list, because OSFF only come up once every so often, but the fish i got from LADD were in truly excellent condition, and they had done a lot of the hardest work for acclimating them to prepared.
