Hi,
I recieved my order today and, as always, everything was better than expected. All acclimated well and are doing great. The blueface angel is shy but is already picking sponges and algae off the rocks. The tang was plump when she arrived and hasn't stopped eating since. My only question is I have not seen the Melanurus Wrasse since she was placed in the tank. Do they usually hide? Are they burrowers? I'm not worried as she looked great during her three hour acclimation but was hoping to get something other than an aerial view of her (during acclimation). Thanks again.

Thanks for the update. It is very typical for Melanurus wrasses to immediately dive into the sand after being placed into the aquarium. It usually takes a day or so for them to start coming out and looking around. I would not be surprised if by the time you read this she is out and about exploring. Take care and good luck with your new animals.

Merek stole my thunder!!! I just got (another) order in on Tuesday and was wondering if there was anything else (maybe from personal experience) to note about the Melanurus Wrasses? I ordered both the male and female and (as stated above) haven't seen em since they went in.... But is there any truth to them eating flatworms ? or any other notes on behavior from these guys that are unique (aside from the colors)? I ask in this forum since I got em from you guys and havent found much of anything from the net on em since they seem to be kinda rare in our hobby. Thanks guys again !

Hey Dave,

They do eat many species of flatworms. Not all species but most. They also eat red bugs off of SPS corals. We use them here in our big coral system to help control pests. They are relatively shy when in the female and young male stage but they do get bolder. A full grown male is one of the most beautiful fish we can keep in our reef tanks in my humble opinion. :)

Awesome...and as always, thanks for a outstanding order and great info. I try to be selective now with the guys i put in my tank and look forward to seeing them grow up
