Your chalice only tank?

Hi, I´m interested on seeing pics of chalice only tanks. I actually want a chalice only tank for the future and also want some ideas. I was thinking it could be really simple and unexpensive, and easy to mantain, but since you need to feed the chalices regulary, I don´t know if a skimmer and regular water changes would be needed.

Any ideas and pics?. Thanks.

if i was doing a chalice tank i would want it really shallow so i could feed them every night without getting my whole arm wet.

I wonder if a shallow tank with PCs would work for chalice only

Why?

Why spend so much on Chalice's these days, and use a "cheap" setup.

I just think if you have the money for an all Chalice tank, get something quality, quality skimmer/fuge, and most defiantly quality lights. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. But, do as you please.

It's a low light coral isn't it?
what, r u gonna burn them with halides when the tank is shallow?
I think even with T5s on a shallow chalice only tank, you're going to have to raise them higher from the water and wouldn't be using their full potential
so why would PCs be poor quality?
please explain your hate for them
and I didn't mention anything about other equiptment

It can be. I've seen them in a 275g lite by 3x400w MH, growing like weeds...

PC - far less effective than T5's. Stuck with 50/50 mix. T5's are more powerful and more colorful. Just get some low PAR T5's if you're utterly concerned with "burning" them. Get some pinks, purples and blue's.

i wouldn't do MH because if the tank is only 6-12 inches high i think it might roast them. i would do t5's and if anything raise them up a little or as ifisch said get low par t5's.

I have 5 different single species tanks running. I have a chalice only tank also but I don't like how it was layed out so I popped all the coral off and moved the rock to the sump. I want to redo it but need ideas.

I stand corrected

Have you looked at how they grow in the wild and thought about mimicking that?

Would love to see pictures of some of these tanks.
