I've been researching digital cameras for a while now and I've come accross this Pentax SLR. I had originally planned on purchasing a Fuji S9000 but the price has gone past what I was hoping to pay at the site I'm ordering from (Dell). So today I came across the Pentax ist SLR. This isnt the new *ist SLR, but it seems to have some pretty good features. I'm just wondering if anyone has feedback on the Pentax ist (not *ist) SLR, or the company in general. I'm used to hearing Canon, Nikon, and Fuji, so I was wondering how Pentax, and this model in particular, stack up!! Thanks everyone.

Also, SLR"s are great, but you have to look at the quality of the lenses (and availabilty of the lenses) for such brand. Sory but I don't know anything about Pentax, I use Canon and love it.

Thanks for the advice, I went through flickr and found a group of people that have used Pentax for a long time and had really good luck, esentially they said it's a good name that's been around a while, but doesn't do all the advertising that Canon and other companies do. This allows them to keep a good price with great quality. Sounds like Pentax people are lifers from what I've seen, so I decided to order one. I'm sure everyone will here how it goes especially when i need help!
