Your thoughts on Yellow and Purple Tangs.

Want to add these to my tank soon before the other fish get to aggressive Im thinking about getting 5 yellows and two purples.... what do yall think. already my tank has 2-SMALL yellow belly hippos, 1-SMALL blue hippo, 1- Juvenile Chevron, and 1-Large Achilles, 4- small clowns, and a small 6-line. all fish have been added within the week. Tank is 72x30x24

The purples would kill each other eventually. i think you could get a way with 1 pT and a group of yellows. I have a purple, achilles, yellow, kole, blue hep and powder brown in my 240. My PT is all over my YT though.

Not to mention, your tank has been wet for what, less than a month, and looks like not mature, or even cured live rock- it may be good to slow down on adding livestock. Jogging good happens fast in this hobby.

I have heard that putting them together is hit or miss with more possibility of miss. I have a yellow and purple tang in my 48x24 with plenty of live rocks and caves. I had them together for close to a year with no issues. I added the purple tang last and he was bigger than the yellow tang. I dont know if they will always be able to coexist, but it has worked so far. If one day it doesnt, i know i will have to remove one of them.

If you go ahead and try putting these two zebras together in the same tank, make sure you have a backup plan in case it doesnt work out.

Edit: i did not read the body of your post until now. Thats a lot of bioload. My experience is with one of each in a tank. Good luck!

Tanks been up and running fully cycled for 2.5 months now.

Have you done any research at all on keeping tangs?!?
These are living animals!
Slow WAY down!
You already have more than enough, I would not add anymore. 12 tangs in a 72x30 tank is way too many. To think if someone said its ok, you might even be thinking of getting even more....

Your tank is not very large considering what you want to keep. Now if the tank was 8ft-10ft we would be having a different discussion.

PLEASE RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY LIVING ANIMALS.

I got advise from this reefer and he has ALOT of tangs.

And don't worry im not being careless, These fish are like my family. The 7 years iv been doing this iv only lost 4 fish and two of those were leap-of-fath attempts.

If you didn't have the other ones in there then you probably would have gotten away with it. The Achilles is aggressive and so are the purple compared to the other tangs, the chevron also tends to be aggressive.

One thing to remember is the amount of air that many big fish need. If he electric goes off you may start losing fish in a matter of hours. Been there done that. My next big purchase will be a home generator then a bigger tank to move my growing tangs into. 8 foot display starts to look small as they grow.

Your build thread says you started filling with ro on 1-11-13 and yoy said yourself that it took ten days to fill. That puts you at 1.5 months since you filled it with ro. Unless your rock was mature and cured, which it doesn't look like in your pictures, your tank is not ready for that kind of bioload.

I have a 5'x3'x2'.
4 yellow tang 3"-4"
1 purple 3.4"
1 blue hippo 9"
1 red sea 10"
plus other fish

I had a 6-7" achilles I had to sell as it was getting to aggressive.

My purple has been taking a beating lately and I might have to address that.

I started with cured rock and added all the tangs at once 3 weeks after i put the rock in.

My tank will be 3 years old this fall. Here is a crappy video from a cell phone that I didnt know he was taking. Its really loud turn your speakers down. Video is from last year
