Yukonblizzard's Shark and Ray Reef Lagoon

I love this....

I thought about doing this myself but my main concern was the tearing/puncturing of the pond liner by things like rock.....do you have any concern with that or is the pond liner extra thick?

Thanks LAmarine! I am not worried about tearing or puncturing becuase this liner is very thick and I also have foam padding underneath it to cushion the weight of objects.

Underneath the liner or on top of the liner (meaning underneath the rocks)? Would you mine trying to get come different angle shots of how your front panel is sealed and screwed into the tank?

The foam padding is underneath the liner. Yeah, I can definetly get some more shots of the front panel later today.

As requested, pictures of the viewing panel...

beautiful dogs and a beautiful tank setup. I'm tagging along to see how this turns out.
If your worried about puncturing the liner, you could put a thin layer of acrylic to help protect it. Just a thought.

Thank you JBird!:D

I will have to get more heaters, I just havent bought them yet. I wanted to see how good these two were before I bought more.

The slate is sealed, but you bring up a good point about it realeasing toxins into the water. Hopefully the ventilation will be good enough to prevent this along with proper care.

The metal edges on the tile will be about 8-10 inches above the water line, and like I said previously, hopefully the ventilation will be sufficient and with proper care it wont do this. Ahh man, now you have me worried! I am hoping this wont happen though.

Humidity will be dealt with fans to draw air out of the room along with a dehumidifier. And yes I do plan to set an ATO, just not right away.

It sounds like youve got things very well thought out. Love=care. When you really love something you are more inclined to take good care of it. It sounds like this will be the case with your lagoon. So no worries. As long as your paying attention and aware of these things, youll be golden! :spin1::beer:

PS Your dogs are gorgeous. I had a malamute/siberian for 13 years and he was the best dog I ever had.

Thanks Keekalmatter! Good idea on the acrylic, I will keep that in mind when I get the rock.

Thanks JBird!:fun4:

Yeah, I love malamutes and huskies. They are such cool dogs with their own little personality, but sometimes they can drive me crazy:spin2:

Did you ever think of raising the aquarium on a short stand so that you can syphon the water out? Just seems like the viewing panel is going to be really low and inconvenient to look through.

I have thought about it, but I liked it better this way. I wanted to get the feel of lagoon, so the viewer would be driven towards a top down view. I will also have some low seats to view from the side.

Man that setup is nice..........When are you going to get some water in it? What type of fasteners did you use to hold the front pane in place? It seems that some of them protrude from the acrylic on the inside? Thanks.

Thanks man! I am hoping to get water in in about a week or two. I just have to buff out the acrylic. The fasteners are 2.5 inches, so it doesnt go through the combined 3 inches of acrylic.

I live in Washington township, I have been to Stingray Bay quite a few time actually. I even bought my black dogface puffer there. They seem to have a great selection of Saltwater fish at good prices.

You can see how much time and effort have went into every step of this project. I hope to do something similar one day, when I have the time, space and funds lol. Gorgeous dogs BTW!
