You buy all freshwater fish from Thailand and Vietnam (use to work at a wholesaler) and have hundreds of tanks full of thousands of fish and even then the profit is minimal at best

I thought the same thing... but also I'm not at all into it...

You can tell he's not either. I wonder why he does it when our town has two big-box stores that sell fresh (Petco and Petsmart). But he does get some cool freshwater fish - discuss, arowana

...Now corals on the other hand you can do very well on bring colonies in and frag like crazy turn a 60 dollar coral into a 300 dollar coral cant do that with a yellow tang

While there aren't many $300 yellow tangs...$10 fish are often sold for $50...same % markup.

Not worth doing something you don't enjoy just for money...

Couldn't fake it talking to somebody about cichlids...

Interesting that the price is coming down though. Clearly its not a supply 'glut' issue, but perhaps the customer base willing to drop $1,200 on a zebra has been exhausted. $1k too much for me as well, but maybe we will see $800 again after all.
