Hey, thanks for your comments! I'm running the Photon with the 90 degree optics, the default configuration. It's currently only up to 35 blues/25 whites and I'm not sure I'll be going much higher. Definitely powerful!

The DCT8000 is great as is, also turned down quite a lot (I think it's on 4 or 5; I'm not home or I'd check). I read about the full power issue but I thought that was on the older models, not the new one. I've turned it off for every water change and have not had any issues yet.

Apex.... some day perhaps....:thumbsup:

I have been following your thread. You did an amazing job on that stand and your aquascaping came out great.
I'm not very artistic and the aquascaping scares the crap out of me lol.

Thanks. Aquascaping is really just a matter of personal taste. It's not that difficult to do, even for the complicated looking stuff. Do a search for it here on RC...lots of great pics and helpful hints. And we're all here to help you.

I added more LPS today... Favia, Duncan and an Acan Lord! I'll get more pictures tomorrow.

In the meantime, I also got what I think is an asterina star with the favia. It's gone now! Here's a picture of that along with a new FTS.

I've found that when taking photos, what looks good to the eye looks horrible in a photo. I usually adjust my lights a bit (spectrum mostly) to get an accurate photo of what I'm seeing in person.

Aside from growth of existing corals, the tank will go through so much change in a year...hopefully additions and not subtractions!

I have a setting saved on my lights with no blue, and a camera app for my phone that I'm still trying to figure out. Sometimes the pictures look good to me, and other times I just get what I get and move on. I'm no pro and am ok with that.

Oh no, not at all. LOL. I've just found that for myself, light settings that look good to the naked eye, never seem to look as good in photos. Just offering a tip.

I'm amazed at the quality of the cameras on phones these days.
 
The Duncan was actually a beautiful specimen 3 weeks ago. The LFS has had it for months - I remember seeing it earlier this year when I was still in research mode. The coloration was gorgeous. I *almost* bought a few heads when I got my clowns but decided to wait.

When I saw it in the display tank at the LFS yesterday, all the heads in the middle were completely white. According to the owner, it had fallen ... right onto a carpet anemone. :eek: After seeing what would/not recover, she was just about getting set to frag it. THIS was the reason I went in yesterday - for the Duncan. She gave me 4 heads (I paid for 3) and hopefully they will thrive in my tank.

They're already looking better this morning, as two of them had hardly any color at all last night. The picture doesn't really do the colors justice... the right side looks about like the left does in the picture, and the left side is much darker. The head in the back left is fantastic with a bright green center and dark purple tentacles. I'll try to get a better angle to show that in another picture later.

Aquarium Solutions. It's closest for me, and where I had seen the Duncan. That's what I went in for... And I left with two others as well. My husband was with me and didn't bat an eye when I mentioned getting three. He just said, "whatever you want, dear." [emoji1]
 
I'm considering putting my clowns in the tank today. Sunday will be 4 weeks of quarantine.... Today is WC day....decisions, decisions...
 
They look great, both active and eating (and making quite the mess of the QT) ;). The larger of the two has claimed the terra cotta pot for bedtime. The smaller one is fine in the PVC.

And they're both still in QT. They can wait until the weekend. As can I.
