who tested cycling is new tank with the zeovit 14 days method ?

I start it today in my new tank, in my new house, but i have to move all my fish and sps before the end of the month. So you think that 14 days method is okay for sps?

(sorry for my english, i'm french canadian)

Thanks

David

Hello David. I am using Zeovit and just finish the 14 days cycle. The initial 14 days is to get everything dial in. You still have to wait additional 4 weeks before you can ask the rest of the corals. This is my 3rd weeks on Zeovit and today i added a bunch of corals colonies. I will let you know the result in a week... :D

I've been 8 weeks into zeo now and used the 14 day cycle. Dropped in a couple of sps colonies to test on the 10th day they were fine so added about 30 sps colonies on the 14th day and now 8 weeks in they are doing great!!! but the trick i think would be to now add too many fishes maybe hold off on fishes until 4 weeks if you could resist. 8 weeks in i only have 5 fish in my tank

Rick55555,
thank you for the link.
I was very surprised that Day1 dosing is pretty huge!!!
8. Dosage
The addition of ZEObak, ZEOstart and Sponge Power can be started now.

ZEObak: 5 ml per 100 liters/25 gallons
ZEOstart: 10 ml per 100 liters/25 gallons
Sponge Power: 3 ml per 100 liters/25 gallons

That's only to build a base - once the 14 days is completed, the dosing is reduce tremendously, depending on your tank size/ stocking level - I also just completed about a week ago my 14 days cycle :)

I'm on the fourth day of the 14 days zeovit cycle, and water is very clear. I will start to test parameters at day 7 to 14... to check where is the cycle, before adding any corals or fish.

Is it good to turn on the skimmer? or i must wait? even if there is nothing else than live rock in the system for now ?

My 14 days Cycle finished a week ago and i already have approx 10 colonies, couple frags and 30 plus fish. Everything doing fine. I am going to add more frag this weekend and add the rest in 2 weeks. The protein skimmer need to be one the moment you start the cycle as well as the light. My protein skimmer remove a lot the first couple days but now it doesn't pull out much. You can find my build thread in large reef tank forum...

Skimmer and lights should be on...... you can skim wet or dry (up to you) For me I prefer to skim wet at this moment :D

I am sorry i am beginner, but what is wet and dry skim?

Wet skim is when you are skimming with a higher level of water in your skimmer thus producing a more diluted skimmate (usually like a color of tea) where dry skim is skimmer with a lower level of water in your skimmer and thus producing a thicker skimmate (usually like a color of coffee/ coffee with milk)

Hope the above explanation helps....

NOW - don't start asking about if wet or dry skimming is better as this been an ongoing debate over the years so to each his own!! :D

I started my tank with the zeovit 14 days method. And it workt great. Added all my corals and fishes after 14 days and everything doing fine. The tank is now 6 months old.

Sorry for digging up this old thread but I was planning on starting my nano with the Zeovit method but there are quite a few things that don't add up to me.

What if I stop dosing after a couple weeks? Would the tank crash?

Why do they recommend carbon? That sounds contradictory to me. Their system is based on dosing vitamins, trace elements etc. but doesn't GAC remove most of it? And aren't the Zeolites supposed to remove toxins etc. as well? Why do I need both, GAC and Zeolites? Sounds like snake oil to me. I have not seen any scientific research that shows how the Zeovit system works.
