Zeovit

Well thats even better news about the reactor then I will not need an additional timer pulled off another pump or location. I will just run the reactor 24/7 and dose the stability. Well I think my tank should take no more than a month than, I run all water through an RO/DI TDS=0 and my hair algae is limited, have a little cyno in some areas I scrub off probably lack of water flow in those areas. Guess I will have to pull out my cheato and monitor the results. I was reading about the vodka sugar and see that could save me big buck in replacing carbon all th time. Do you use carbon or just the vodka method. It lookes pretty easy, guess its best to start off with a small ratio and gradually increase.

Be careful using that iHerb potassium chloride...I tried it last summer when I didn't want to spend the $ on the KZ supplement. I dosed it once at a conservative dosage and had a coral TN 24 hours later.

If you want to save money I recommend the Warner potassium supp. as it is ionically balanced and only costs $8. The iherb product is not balanced --pure chloride-- and a few people have had bad results with it in their reef tanks.

Zedar if i were to follow the Glassbox mixture they used minus the Pridibo I think that would work. how many mililiters were you dosing to start in your tanks.

So where did you purchase your Warner Potassium from Canary Girl, 've been trying to find a site where i can get ESV supplements and the Zeo stuff in one shop so I do not have to pay all these shipping charges. If anyone know one shoot me a link.

sorry, it's been so long since I bought it that I don't remember. I think I just did a Google search for the product and found a vendor that way.

I started with .1ml

But after a few days I increased it to 1ml then added a ml each day.

So after about 10 days i was up to 6 ml eventually i went to 20 ml. But that caused A bloom so I lowered it to 20 ml every two days.

I now run at 5ml per day.

I haven't used my bottle of Warner K+ supp yet...I've been finishing off a bottle of KZ's. Thanks for the tip though about dosing it in the sump.

Sounds great. Also I see the seachem stability says no UV, do I need to eliminate that completly so the bacteria can flourish. I only havea 9watt turbo twist. I just added the matrix in my reactor with the proper dosage of stability to my tank, now I just need to wait. I think tomorrow i will start a mixture of the vodka/sugar and see how that goes for a month or two dont want to add too much at once. rather have a gradual swing than a sudden one. i was wonder if i used the iherb potassium if I could just dilute it with Ro/DI and add that instead of the powder in a raw form, maybe drip it in like lime water?

Well thats good and bad I get to sell my UV unit but now have to adjust the plumbing from the sump, man it just gets more and more complicated. Well fir niw I will unplug it and let the water run through and wait to see how things go for a month or so before i sell it. Thanks for the website too they seem to have everything I need so no shopping around. Will try and get some photos up of the before and afters.

So here is my overal plan for my system I plan to run:

1. Seachem Matrix in a reactor with the addition of Seachem stability. Lower nutrients in 1-3 months to zero.

2. use ESV B-Ionic 2 part alk/calcium, B-Ionic magnesium supplements.

3. Add Warner Marine balanced Ion Potassium.

4. Zeo Amino Acid' High concentrat and Zeo Sponge power for corals

5. This is my optional item and thats the vodka/sugar dosing from Glassbox.

Does this sound good to everyone. My other question is where can I get a cheap potassium test kit thats easy to use. ASlso can I does lime water while I await my esv supplements used the last of them up last night.

I mean the whole number 5 as optional, dosing the three part mix from the article. Im not t rying to have my tank crash or corals die from such a sudden change. I may make a mixture of the vodka/sugar/vinegar tonight and dose a small amount ot see how things go for a week. Im talking like no more than 5ml for about 90 gallons. Does that sound rigth or should I go even smaller like 1 ml for the whole tank?

Ok I have some updates for those who care :)

I dosed nitrate on saturday. It drove my nitrates from 0 to 10ppm. I just tested them and they're down to 5ppm.
As far as any effects of dosing them, I did notice a slight bit of algae on the back wall. And Ive had to clean the tank glass twice.
Corals have increased colors. But I cant attribute it solely to the nitrates because i also dosed potassium chloride, lugols and zeovit AA's.

I purchased these two products today. Im going to give them a try.

They sell three zooplankton products

Zooplanktos-L zooplankton ranging in size from 500 - 2,000µm (2mm)
Zooplanktos-M zooplankton ranging in size from 500 - 1,000µm (1mm).
Zooplanktos-S Provides zooplankton and fully-digestible, unhatched eggs ranging in size from 50 - 300µm.

Looks promising

Okay so I started adding all the nutrient killing items to my tank. I started with the seachem matrix and the stability yesterday. Today I made the vodka/sugar/vinegaar mix and added 5ml to my tank. Will keep everyone posted on the outcome.

By the way since I am using this vodka/sugar/vinegar mix do I also need carbon in the tank?

Yes use carbon. But use it passively in the sump.

I use seachem purigen instead of carbon. Dont know if its better or not.

5 ml sounds like an aweful lot in a system of that size. Read the thread in Zedar's link (the entire thing including splits) and be patient. It's no big deal to go too slow but it's devastating to go too fast.

I've never put more than 1ml of v/s/v in my tank in a day (net system volume is ~85 gallons). I started at a few drops per day, then doubled it, then doubled it again....now I'm up to .75ml/day. I've been feeding A LOT (!) and haven't seen any blips in algal growth. My nitrates have remained ND the entire time (I don't have a colorimeter to test my phosphates). My goal is to be able to feed the tank as much as I want while keeping very low NO3 and PO4 levels. So far, so good. My fish are so fat they are shaped like goldfish. My corals haven't browned out a bit and have actually gotten a little more color as of late.

I use GAC 24/7.
