Sail,
Good to hear things are going well for you
heres an update
On the positive side.
1. v/s/v dosing has provided me with a sustainable system. No algae problems in 6 months. (except bubble

)
2. It allows me to feed the tank a healthy amount of food. My fish are fat and happy.
3. Ive been reducing the amount of v/s/v i dose. Im down to 2ml per day. And can probably lower it some more.
4. My water stays clear, which means the lighting penetrates well providing the corals with more PAR. Less power is a good thing these days, with the rising cost of energy.
On the negative side
I'm having some issues with color. Blues aren't popping. greens seem fine.
No PE on most SPS.
I tested Iodide and found it high. Im letting it fall by not dosing any, and doing weekly water changes.
Could this be why blues are dull and no PE?
I finally purchased a K+ test kit. I went with the korallen zucht kit because i got tired of waiting for fauna marin to ship.
I tested over 400 for K+. Could this be why the blues arent there and no PE?
Im doing extra water changes to bring the water back in check.
I was dosing seachem iodide at their recommended amount and OD'd the tank. Just a headsup for anyone using seachem.
Once i bring the levels down to normal I have to find my dosing requirement.
The high level of iodide or potassium may have caused the loss of my crocea clam. Can anyone confirm this?
It stopped opening. It had no snails or other parasites that i could find, it just stopped opening and died in a few days time.
The PE i was getting last month was phenomenal. Now its nonexistent.
