Zero Luck with my Zero Edge

As some of you know, I'm being forced to sell my Zero Edge that I won at MACNA last year after my student loan company backed out of a loan for my final year last minute.

I had it up in the general selling, will probably bump it tonight, but after 2 weeks of not much luck I posted it in our sister club forums (CORA and PMAS) with not much more than words of encouragement, which I very much appreciate.

I tried Serdar, and unfortunately it just won't fit in his store, otherwise he might have been interested.

SO.......

Here's my latest brilliant (or very Lucy Ricardo) idea. If any of my fellow club members are able to find me a buyer, and it goes through, I would donate 10% to that club member as a "Thank you for keeping me in school"

My next idea is selling Scott, but that's probably against the TOS of the site :D And he's the spider-killer

It is an awesome setup and definitely one-of-a-kind. I think the price was $15,000 with all the trimmings that were donated by all the best companies out there. It has EVERYTHING you need except some RO/DI water. I would LOVE to have a tank that size and a ZeroEdge is more of a dream tank than something I could ever afford.

It looks like you could get it for a 10% discount if you found the buyer (even if it is you) :) I hope it's not too far from here when it is assembled because I would like to visit and "oooh and ahhh" about it.

Sorry Jen and Scott.

Here's a video I found on YouTube of a tank like your tank... I think it's smaller though :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBpRqjA_8lI

What about trying to raffle it off? If you did it on the sales forum for $15 a ticket you should be able to get 1000+ entrants.

I'm not sure which price would get you the most entrants, but just a thought.

Great idea! I would be in for one or two or three tix. Just make it a minimum number of tix based on what ticket price you want to have.

I would probably be forced to buy a couple chances to win such i nice setup too. It would be a nightmare trying to ship all the stuff to CA or somewhere. There's also the issue of keeping the raffle honest. What if a local guy won and there are 1500 other people from 47 other states entered? Wouldn't you feel kind of cheated?

If it were a local only raffle that would be different but good luck selling $15k+ in tickets all in this area.

I wish you guys the best of luck with this and would be willing to help with getting the word out if you decide to organize a raffle. I don't know how RC would feel about it being advertised online. Maybe with a percentage donated to the club it might be allowed by RC but I would ask a mod first. (maybe GEO could be a good contact for you since he is a mod who is close to home)

Well, what I was saying is that even if all 150 C-SEA members bought a ticket for $10 or even $20 each, she would still need to sell $12,000 more to make it to her goal. If you got CORA and PMASI involved you might sell 200 more and only be $8,000 short. Then you have to start going out to other clubs or online to distant people who might possibly create trouble when trying to ship it all 1,000 miles or more without breakage.

Don't get me wrong, I would buy at least one and maybe more tickets (the proceeds ARE going to a good cause ;) ) but I think it may be more of a headache than it's worth to Jen and Scott.

Just my 2 cents

It's definitely something to think about. Not sure if I could sell 1000 tickets, but I will think about logistics. Thank you everyone, I really appreciate you all trying to take care of us.

Auctions/raffles/best offer type selling is not permitted on RC, please refrain from further discussion about it.
Thanks.

i would call local fish stores, Dan has space for a new display tank... your best bet selling such an expensive setup might be a retail location.

i remember that tank has dry walls for vortech pumps and everything, super cool.

what about LFS in chicago or pittsburgh?
