Zoa Food

I feed all my palys a mix of Rod's Food, blackworms & mysis soaked in Selcon overnight & a bunch of other stuff. Hand feed every polyp--with love.

I've followed the "lots of light, lots of flow" advice for about 4 months, now, very slow growth. I'm still game for just following this advice, but..

If i WAS to feed zoas/palys, what do people use?

I haven't seen a ton of growth on mine, until I added Vitamin C to my tank. They are all taking off like gangbusters now!

I read that thread before, I thought it was primarily an improvement in 'sickly' zoas. i.e. brown slime, closing, "pinching", etc.

My zoas are looking fine, they just aren't multiplying. but I'm willing to try -

I have a 120 gal reef tank, lots of rock, and about another, oh, at least 40 gallons in the 'fuge/sump. How much Vit C to add?

my other concern is that I read that you stopped dosing, and your zoas started closing up again. do you think your growth is dependant on Vit C, or is it only helped by Vit C?

thanks

There is something in some of our tanks that cause certain zoas to die off. No one has figured out yet what that is. Those zoas may be dependent on the C. What I'm speacking of, is what the stuff is doing for my HEALTHY corals. Even my SPS & LPS are benefitting--growing better PE, colored tips they never had before & spectacular growth on all corals.

On my 40g, I am using 1/2tap (about 2200 mg), 2x/day. Thsi is of the pure, bufferd Sodium ascorbate from www.i-herb.com. I would start at 1/2 that for a week & then double it.

What sort of vit C do you use for your corals, can i pure a cup of OJ in my tank

NO! Don't pour orange juice in your tank!

People are talking about either vitamin C supplement pills you can buy at a pharmacy or ascorbic acid which can be purchased from chemical supply places.
