Can anyone tell me why my Electric Oompa Loompas have lost just about all of their color? They were bright and awesome when I bought them but now they are pretty ugly. Here is a picture of mine and picture i downloaded off the internet to show what they are supposed/used to look like.

Well Turing white is generally to much light or no light at all. That's where I would start. They r open so chances r nothing is bothering them.

now im seeing a pattern your other thread shows a lot of brown algae and now your corals are bleaching im not a reef pro but maybe to much light or maybe to much of a red yellow spectrum JMO

How long have you had them?/when did they start losing color?

They were added to the tank on 11/8. I didnt document the change but it wasnt very long, maybe within a month...

How bright are your lights? Something to check is to look at night and see if you find any pests.

I have (4) AI SOLs for a custom 90g. 3 x 2 x 2. Here are my command lines:
Whites at 19%:
If Time 11:00 to 14:59 Then RampUpWh
If Time 15:00 to 15:59 Then White19
If Time 16:00 to 19:59 Then RampDnWh

Royal Blues at 65%:
If Time 10:00 to 13:59 Then RampUp
If Time 14:00 to 16:59 Then RBlue65
If Time 17:00 to 20:59 Then RampDn

Blues at 65%:
If Time 09:00 to 12:59 Then RampUp
If Time 13:00 to 17:59 Then Blue65
If Time 18:00 to 21:59 Then RampDn

In addition to the ramping profiles, sunrise is further simulated by each module turning on every half hour. Sunset is the same. So all modules are only on for 10 hours of the total 13 hour photo period and all LEDs are at their max SET intensities for only 1 hour.

I had some, they were amazing! Then the color faded and they melted away. Zoas are goofy

Besides color, they are doing great. Always open and I started with only one polyp. Now there are three.

They under LEDs?

I don't have red or yellow spectrums, just white and blue. I have other zoas a lot higher on the aquascape that are very colorful while the EOLs are less than an inch from the sand bed. I have some SPS within 6" of the surface as well. The EOLs and Palleta Pink Tip are the only two corals in the tank that are white. The SPS frag is about 1/4 of the way up but seems to be recovering and regaining some color though.

sometimes the white gives off some reds/ yellows that the naked eye cant see on a spectrum level.....I had some issues of some zoas losing color and my sps were growing great I lowered my whites to almost 10% cause I like the more blue looking light and this week my sps have grown like they are on steroids and the bleached out zoas are out and full of color again ......in the wild the corals are many feet deep and we are placing them in a 18" deep tank.... just try it...lower your whites for a week and see the difference my corals went crazy

Are the ZOA and sps in the same location? If so could that end or light fixture not adjusting appropriately?

No, the zoa are all the way to the right/bottom and my prized Paletta pink tip is front and center. I really hope it's not the light. The coral I'm waiting for on your order is going about 6" from the EOLs on the same rock.

I'll try lowering the whites bit. lol I've been increasing them over the past few weeks. They were at 16%.

Personally I just don't care for led only. Zoa and pally just reject certain lighting and led seems to be on that list pretty often. This is just my opinion.

Anyways. Have they always been in that spot? If so I would try a different location either more or less light. I have some low light soft corals that are half covered from light and other half getting good light. The half in the shade looks exactly like that. The other half has great color.

My personal exsperiance with to much light on zoa and paly they seem to not want to open and shrink a bit.

I'm just thinking as I'm typing. The other thing on light is if they don't get enough light then tend to get tall and reach for the light. They don't look like they r reaching.

So my new question is have they gotten smaller or just loose color?

Same size polyps but more of them. The dont reach at all.

Well u got me. I would post on zoa forum. Let me know what they say. If it's not lighting. U only have flow and water conditions left

Question do you vodka/carbon dose!? Judging by the info and pics I think you may be over stripping your water? My guess is due to trying to rid algae or get pristine water quality for your SPS you have taken to much from the water column. Just my .02

How r the rest of ur zoa doing and what ones do u have?

All others are doing great and full of color. most are getting more light yet some are getting less. Ill post how much light each colony gets in regards to the EOLs with +, - or =

EOLs

Pandoras (-)
CARs (+)
Goochsters (++)
Pink Zippers (+)
Purple Hornets (-)
Blue Hornets (-)
Halle Berrys (+)

I do not carbon dose and recently removed the carbon from the reactor. I feed the corals daily and the fish 3 times a day.

Coral food schedule:
Sundays: target feed a mix of coral frenzy, reef roids and coral vibrance (1/2 tsp total)
Monday: Red Sea reef energy A&B (10ml each)
Tuesday: target feed Coral Smoothie (30ml)
Wednesday: Red Sea reef energy A&B (10ml each)
Thursday: Coral Amino (10mL)
Friday: Red Sea reef energy A&B (10ml each)
Saturday: TM Reef Snow

Fish food schedule:
Neptune AFS feeds twice a day at lowest setting at 10am and 2pm. With about 10-15 pellets. Filled with Neptune Systems fish and coral food.
Sunday: PE Mysis (1/2 cube), Red algae flakes (pinch)
Monday: Frozen cyclopeeze (1/4 cube), green algae flakes (pinch)
Tuesday: mixture of Flakes/Pellets (pinch), purple algae flakes (pinch)
Wednesday: Freeze Dried cyclopeeze (pinch), Julian Sprung's green seaweed (1/4 sheet)
Thursday: Plankton (1/2 cube), red algae flakes (pinch)
Friday: PE mysis (1/2 cube), green algae flakes (pinch)
Saturday: Frozen cycolpeeze (1/4 cube), purple algae flakes (pinch)

I don't know about the food thing. That's Pedro's department. I Don't feed my corals.
As far as placement I would try a different location if it was me. U can try dipping it also just incase maybe in revive

Are you using the AI sol white or blue. I am not a fan of the white since it is "each puck" 2 cool white and one blue. where the AI sol blue is 1 royal blue. 1 blue and 1 cool white. This makes a better color mix. IMO.

Agreed. I have the blues.
