Zoa Pox

Tonight I noticed that one of my large colonies of zoanthids has zoa pox. Kind of upsetting. So the first thing I did was look online to confirm that it was in fact the pox and what I should do to cure it. The second thing I did was examine my other colonies and they are free and clear of any pox. I isolated the colony in my fuge. I read many techniques (vit C, Iodine, Coral dips, Furion 2 (sp?)) I figured I would ask on here and see what some of you have done that was effective. I really cant do anything about it now, Ill have to swing by the LFS in the morning and get something to take care of this.
Does anyone know what causes pox? In what I read no explanation was given for the causes. All my parameters are normal and the tank has not had a "problem" untill this happened.

Nope not closed. But there are numerous pox all over their stalks.

Furan 2 is the absolute best way to treat Zoa Pox. Don't use it in the tank though. Pull the coral and treat in a separate bucket. It's very effective as mentioned in the article below. My own feeling is that Zoa Pox may be caused by excess food and detritius that gets caught under the polyps and on the connective tissue then begins breaking down. Using a turkey baster to "blast" off the colonies at least once a week seems to keep the corals healthy. Cleaning the rock and coral bases in this manner is an excellent addition to your regular maintenance and takes only a few minutes several times a week. Adding some filter material to export the material, once you get it into suspension goes a long way to more healthy corals. Here's some great reading on Zoa Pox and treatment:
