Zoa prices

I just started collecting high-end zoas. I've got armageddon, RPE, armor of God, and Purple Death. I've been looking online long enough to know what these usually sell for. I'm now looking at some Rose Nebulas. But I haven't really seen these much online. He's offering them at $25/polyp, KO's nightmare $30/polyp, and candy apples at $25/polyp.
I would like to grow them all out and start selling them myself to support my salt-water addiction. But are these prices the norm, or are they crazy? If they're crazy, anyone out there have some at better prices? Interested in most other high-ends, but really want the rose nebulas. Just thought I'd get some input before buying. Thanks

Anything more than $10 a polyp is bull. The best way to drive prices down would be grow some out and sell at lower prices. Sell more, cheaper. Then people will quit paying that much for SUPPOSEDLY "HIGH END" zoas.

I've been looking around for 'different' zoos myself. Problem is that most of the lfs stores have in my opinion, boring ones or ones that I already have. However, a lfs store around here is willing to buy my hard to find ones for a great price....

So, buy, grow em, and make some cash to help but new ones....

i have both candy apple redds and candy apple greens. I payed 20 for about a 6 polyp frag of the redds and 40 for a huge colony of the greens.
ive found that if you can wait, you might find a better deal. But that may take a week, and it may take a year. Or you can bite the bullet and pay top dollar for the zoas you want.
i dont think there is a max on how much polyps are worth, its all about how much you personally value them. If the price seems crazy to you then thats all that matters.

Also i think the best prices you'll find will be from another local reefer like yourself, or at a local club meeting/fragswap.
goodluck.

If you give the LFS that much for them, then they'll think that's what they're worth.
And we both know that they aren't.

I would pay that for the Rose Nebulas but not the others, unless your getting the Candy Apples from the original namer. I havent seen what KOs look like.

per polyp or tiny frag is a good way to get lots of choices if you are looking for really nice stuff and dont want to spend 50 or a hundred or more on a mini colony.

. If you dont think so, then you gotta spend the effort searching out bargains or go for wild colonies that can be gems sometimes...but not usually. There is something to be said for the well knowns as far as what they will truly end up looking like.

Dont buy from anyone who isnt confident enough in the health of their corals or their shipping experience that wont offer a healthy arrival guarantee. Showing up in bad shape and hanging on for weeks before it dies is a DOA IMO for all intensive purposes. If it shows up healthy and opens up immediately...then dies in yoru system all bets off.

Just my opinion

it is a viscious cycle when you pay $20-$50 for a polyp...grow it out and want to post it for sale. You want to sell it for near what you paid for it. If you can gurantee its healthy arrival and being pest free and perfect, you cant blame a guy. just dont buy it if you dont like it. go searching for your bargains

they sound like horrible prices for one polyp... i would say no more than 15 and thats pushing it...i know they are high end but you can get a small frag of like 5,6,7,8 of reg zoos for 10 bucks.

consider this... how likely is it that 1 polyp will die.. in my opinion its very likely... and i would want to take the chance of 3 dying and loosing out on the zoos and potentially 75-80 bucks. thats a lot.. i would look around to members selling frags sometimes you can make a deal

I just can not fathom paying by the polylp. I just enjoy checking out different LFS's and finding nice stuff here and there. I have spent as little as 15 bucks but no more than 50 bucks for my largest colony. I probably don't have anything that exotic but I do enjoy them.

Here are a couple good deals I got first one was 30 and second 50 bucks.
I only started reefing a little over a year ago, who knows, maybe in while i might be willing to spend that money but for now I am content stumbling onto lil beauties like these.

It's also a very good way to make an awful lot of money. I'd much rather spend $ 50 for a colony, than $ 50 for a polyp. If my one polyp dies, I have nothing to show for my money. If one of 30 polyps dies, I have 29 more left to enjoy. Just my opinion.

kingfisher62, what a great purchase you made. Believe it or not, I still find great looking colonies of blue, reds, yellow etc, for the same amount that you spent. Just 3 years ago, you could buy an entire colony of anything you see for sale today for $ 30, $ 40 to $ 70 for large 7" x 8" colonies. I purchased an entire colony of large stunning palys just last year for $ 40. They are by far my favorites in my tank.

Much continued success to you.

Thanks mucho, same to you.
Still lookin for those blues though, I'll find some sooner or later!

hey, I am ready to do some fraggin!
I have the original" superglue gel" aka ethyl Cyanoacrylate, polymethyl methacrylate.

Is this stuff the right stuff to use? Has anyone used it before!

Any suggestions on use!

sorry to get off track.
