ZOA survival stories

So I bought a frag of three purple deaths several months ago... very cool little polyps. And then the inhabitants of my tank conspired against me. The orchid dottyback wanted the hole that the frag plug was in for his new home (he didn't want it before the plug was there, but that's beside the point). So the plug wound up on the ground.

Then the pistol shrimp decided that the plug would look pretty under ground in his burrow. Fast forward nearly a month and I find the plug buried in the aragonite with three faint white blobs still on it. I put it in the light about a week ago and today all three are open polyps. No color yet, but definitely live zoos!

Anyone else have crazy survival stories of these things? I'm VERY impressed with these guys.

I had almost the same thing happen to me. Bought some emeralds on fire and put them on the frag rack. Two days later the polyps blew off the disc, I see them and go grab some IC gel to reglue them, come back to the tank and they are gone. I had a blue spot jawfish at this point and figured them gone. Fast foward several weeks and I see them blowing around, pretty much all white except for a little green. After putting them back on a plug they are now fully colored up and growing.

sometimes I think they are impossible to kill. I had some rock in a dark tub (cooking) for over four months. Put that rock in a refugium with some pc lighys out popped a bunch of zoas. Brown but alive.

Armor of God.....

Frag came un-glued, Pistol shrimp hid it for about 1 month, I put new urchin in the tank, then 2 days later he has a totally clear frag glued to his back, 1 week later they open, fast forward 3 weeks and now there is a AOG frag on his back with 4 heads and it has colored up and is doing great.

I plan on leaving them on his back as he seems to be able to take better care of them than me.....:D

Delilah made plans for us to go see a movie at the theaters, I couldn't help but try to frag my blue tubbs before we left because they were starting to grab my frag-rack.. I got halfway done with my fragging (Tubbs all over my frag board) And went to go clean up and get dressed to stop her complaining. I forgot about being in the middle of a frag session and went to the movie. When we returned I went to the tank, saw my frag table and saw my tubb frags pretty much dried up on the table. They all lived ;)

My Joker Paly is survivor . I sold to someone out of state. The package was returned to me after 27 days. The water was super cloudy and sting. I poured the water out and there was my closed Joker Paly. Put in the tank and survive. It become big colonies with many hardy offspring. Not single frag die.
