I'm That Guy!!
Well, I am finally building a Zoa Tank, it wil consist of nothing but Zoanthids... I have a few questions before I finalize the setup...
The tank was built to my dimensions (24x24x12) using 1/4" acrylic... It has a 12x6in overflow box with a 1" durso standpipe... I will be using a mag 5 for the return, a tunze 6025 for flow, and a 175W MH 14K Hamilton setup... It wil have a 10 gallon sump with only a sock and return pump...
This tank will be a nutrient rich environment, with my nitrates hovering around 10 - 15.
Now for the questions, the tank will be 25 gallons with a total system volume of 30 gallons.. I will be using half of the water from my display tank to kickstart the tank, will it need to cycle?
I am not planning on you using any live rock or sand except for the rubble the zoas are on, will this be ok?
I was thinking about removing the 14K bulb and changing it to a 20K bulb for more color out of my zoas... Will a 20K 175W MH be enough to get good growth?
What would you use for the bottom of the tank, I was thinking about starboard, but it would have to be 2 pieces because of the bracing on the tank...
Thanks for looking... Anyhelp is much appreciated!!!!!
