Before we start... this will be photo intense.

Well I have always sat back and learned from ReefCentral so I thought I should share in the knowledge. I do most of my posting on a Canadian forum but I will share all my eye candy with you folks.

The Zoa system is a 60g tank with a single closed loop and return (Plumbed into my 300g main system), lighting is a 8 bulb tek 5 3" fixture but some of the photos are while all my zoas were in the main tank. After viewing Macho's dedicated system I knew I needed something similar (Also wanted to separate the zoas from my 7 hungry tangs). I'm very pleased with the new system, has only been up for about a month now but the colonies are loving it.

Thank you for sharing.

Can you give us any more details?

Love pics #2 and #4 from first post and #2 from the second one.

Thanks for the compliment!

Actually maybe some of you can help me with this question, I made up a batch of fish and coral food last night with a few new ingredients, looking for a little insight as I added a bunch (Over 175g) of Multi greens herb supplement. Here are the ingredients:

Anyone see anything that could be dangerous? I fed a whack load of it last night and everything went crazy (Including one chalice that never exhibits a feeding response ).

Also added into the mix was:
2 lbs Muscles
2 lbs Manilla Clams
15 Giant Shrimp
7 Large Oysters
4 Minced Carrots
1 Half Head Broccoli
1 Bottle Selcon
1 Bottle SeaChem Amino acid supplement
2 Bottles of Coral food soak
1 Half Bottle Reefroids
1 Half Bottle freeze dried phyto

I have also been looking for oyster eggs or urchin eggs but I can't seem to find them anywhere in Calgary. My trip to China town didn't go so well, 3/4 people responded with "No speak English" and the 4th was some variant of laughing at me followed by pointing and more laughing. Do oriental people eat this stuff or am I being ignorant?

i absolutely love this tank!!! its soooo pretty! i have a 40 breeder that is zoa dominated and cant wait for mine to grow out like this!!

thank you for sharing!

I think the secret is in the water :lmao:, I found that with the addition of my biopellet reactor that my zoa growth increased. Although they really don't eat small particulate food the bacterial aggregate in addition to large levels of detritus sticks to there mucous and provide a little extra nutrition.

I feed VERY large amounts to both my coral and fish, every night right as the lights turn off I broadcast feed the main tank. The smallest particulate makes it's way to the zoa tank right as everything is closing up for the night providing a snack right before bed.

Biggest tip to growth is not touching your frags, something I tend to have a problem with :hmm1:.

I always wondered what would happen if you just let zoas go, now I know. Freaking cooler than anything I could ever imagine. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing everything looks great, I am getting ready to set up something similar. Mine will only be 22x22x8 though. What bulb combination are you using?
