Zoanthid acronyms

I've decided to have a zoanthid themed tank, and have been trying to learn as much as I can before getting my first frag/colony. I see a lot of acronym/abbreviations on this board, and it's all a little confusing. So here are a few general questions:

What are these acronyms/abbreviations/nicknames:

- RPE
- PPE
- tubs
- GPE
- PE
- MPE
- PHE

I kind of understand the difference between zoanthids, palythoas, and ricordia (sp?), but I still find it hard to determine what is a zoo and what is a paly just but looking at them. Any tips?

Is there a good central repository of zoanthid information other than this forum?

A lot of the zoos I've seen in person aren't nearly as colorful as what I see in pictures on this forum. What gives?

RPE- Red People Eater
PPE-Purple People Eater
tubs-Is a zoo farmer is known for aka "Tubs Blue" color morph
GPE-Green People Eater
PE- People Eater
PHE- Purple Heart Eater

Palys are usually bigger in size like around nickel size give or take zoos vary from eraser head to around dime size more or less. Maybe your area lfs dont stock the colorful zoos it seems to be a supply and demand market for certain areas. Check online vendor for great zoos.

I think PHE is for Purple Hearted Emeralds... But I could be wrong... Hard to keep up with all the zoanthid naming madness these days.

MPE was a joke acronym I threw out for Miscellaneous People Eater

PHE is Purple hearted emerald not purple heart eater although I like that name better

Sorry I mad a mistake I got a little " Eater Crazy" Yeah I like the eater name in it to.

It was started by Blaine Perin on his on-line site, he was supposedly the first one to have the Purple People Eater polyps. He started selling them and they took off. They are still one of the most sought after polyps today, the rest are named like that because the have the same qualities that the PPEs have.

On Blaine's e-bay site, he selling frags called PPE that are not. I E-mailed him and asked if the were PPE, like the add said, and he said they were not. Why call them PPE's if they are not? Make me wonder how ethical he is.
