They're such a fascinating creature. This weekend I cut a single polyp off of a brown zoa that we have. We bought a small colony for a few bucks last winter all closed up as a "rescue" to see if we could get them back to life, not knowing what color they would be. They are thriving and growing like a weed now, but not a flamboyant color... so I took one huge polyp, very carefully as my fragging skills are still developing, placed it gently on a dab of glue on a perfect piece of rock. placed it into my frag tank and realized as it opened up and reached out that I glued it down upside down! doh!!
Yet I still don't think it will die, IDK. Zoas can be the most finicky at times, but the most hardiest in others.

It's funny cause I was super careful, my fragging success has gone from 10% to like 90% so I'm getting better.
This guy was opened up, on my work station, out of the water. I had my frag rock dried out and pre glued ready to go. Carefully picked him up with a razor so I wouldn't pinch him.
Looked like the perfect application. I have had some where I felt I glued them crooked so I wanted the most upright perfect specimen I could get.
Sure enough he's perfectly straight up and down like a tree. Except upside down.

Purple hornets I think, the blue hornest I believe are typically a brighter color in the center.

I love Zoas, I at times get a bit overwhelmed and frustrated by the gazillion random names given to them and euphylia (especially torches) but I also have to respect it some because there are zoas out there like GMK and LSOH that are notoriously hard to keep (random melt), and others that are massively invasive (Pandoras). so I guess having appropriate names helps since not all zoas are the same...
plus size is important when making a zoa garden. my eagle eyes were very small and I had to constantly prune back bam bams and others that wanted to grow over them.

what are the best Zoas t get, starting my reef over agai and want a softie tank as they seems to be easier to have. It's only a 55g so with them, a gobie/shrimp pair and whatever my wife likes. I love Flamebacks, Cherubs, Multibars, although I can't have all of them in that tanks at the same time if at all. I know I need to have more fish than that to keep the wife satified, lol. So, some Midget or green Chromis, maybe a purple dottyback, but got to watch the aggression with that one. Add ina good clean crew and I'll be maxed out. So what do you think, is that to much? .
