Zoanthid poo?

In the past, I'd seen small black hunks and goo appear to squeeze out of my zoanthid mouths... last night, I witnessed it again, and had my camera handy... so I sat and watched.

3 of my pink zoanthid polyps (side by side) all decided to expel waste at the same time. I've never really heard about this but... if zoanthids use light and nutrients that they absorb, well, what we call a mouth would actually seem to be more of a... well.. butt.

Am I for some reason late in realizing this behavior? Or is anybody interested enough to see the pictures?

The goo could be excess zooxanthellae being expelled.
