zoanthid wows

I have some zoanthids frags that I got from gatewayaquatics. They came in ok and for the past couple months some of they frags were growing while some others seemed to stay closed up alot. Recently some of the frags looked like they were begining to melt a little and turned a mushy white color and remained closed.

Any suggestions as to what I should? Some sort of dip or something?

Thank you for the support,
Greg

Can you give us some specs on your tank? Size, Lighting ,H2O parameters? Anything change recently i.e. equipment?

if they have turned to mush it may be too late.
Is the entire colony mush or just a few polyps?

If its just a few polyps you may be able to move them in the tank to a location that may inhibit better growth and/or nourishment, I have moved colonies to higher flow areas and had success. But like I said initially, my experience has been that if they have become mush its probably too late.

Sorry. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks guys,

The affected zoa's are not intire colonies but individuals within the colony.

Some look better today, others remain the same. The white mushy looking ones seem better. I going to do a large water change tomorrow and see if that helps.

There are some however that have remained closed since day 1 (3 months ago). Not really sure why. I think I will try moving them in different flows/light levels.

They live in a frag system with other softies and anemones. Maybe a chemical thing?

My parameters are all good, at least the usual measureable stuff, again maybe chemicals?

I perhaps should look into vitamin c. Is this a somewhat proven method for overall health of most all corals or just zoanthids?

Thanks,
Greg

Since dosing with VC, all my corals (especially the softies & LPS) have grown tremendously, colored up brighter & even leathers have plumped up very nicely.
