Zoas covered in algae?

so in the biocube the zoas are getting covered in green algae. I'm not home right now, but the gf is testing the water and doing a big water change. the only thing that has changed, is that the blue channel on the lights went out and I'm still waiting for the replacement power supply to get here. Is there a safe way to remove the algae? The zoas wont open due to the algae growing on them. Everything else in the tank is fine.

I take either a turkey baster and blow them off, or literally just take my fingers and wipe in between the zoas. They never seem to have an issue and open up within a few hours.

I don't think it'll blow off with a turkey baster. You can use a hydrogen peroxide and dip to kill off the algae will be fine. 25 percent hydrogen peroxide for one minute 75% tank water

Interesting, do you think this will work with corals that have a bit of cyano on them? I had a small outbreak and it got on some clove polyps I have on a piece of rock. I was able to manually remove most of visible and haven't seen any since but I was afraid to disturb these guys as they seem so fragile.

Peroxide works very well with cyano. I've used this method several times but you gotta cure the actual source of the problem.

Be careful with peroxide on some species like clove and xenia it will melt them I found out the hard way with it. It doesn't happen instantly but I had to do 2 dips for gha a couple years ago and within a week the cloves and xenia were melted away and I did 10%peroxide
