Hello

anynoe want a zoa eating emeral crab? I'm about to banish him to the porcelain throne of grace. He's been eating away at some orange zoas I had. Everymorning there he is, eating away. So, who wants him, free of course. I don't havre a sump persay to put him in, so I have to do something with him. I guarantee he will love your tank, and your Zoas

Another Emerald who has chowed down on zoas. I have never trusted the little buggers.

OH yes, I just hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. THEY CAN'T BE TRUSTED, EVER.

I'm about to buy one!
This weekend, to control some leafy, seaweed like algae I have. Dicho... something.
Sometimes you have to roll the dice.

Well

I am about to excute a warrant on him for Zoas snacking. If you weren't in Toronto, I would ship him to you SMP.

I have two, no issues. They just pick at the algae. I have heard some horror stories though, i must have got lucky.

i bought mine to get rid of some bubble algae. now i think he has ran out of food and has been picking on my corals. it sucks, i'm not sure what to do. my fish store guy said to add these frozen shrimp/algae cubes, this might stop the crab from eating the corals. good luck

why give him something else to eat, I have shrimp, peppermints in my tank, they couldn't handle an attack, so he has to be banished

My emerald crab would steal fish chunks out of the mouth of my anemone, the ruby crab would hunt stormatilla snails. I have not seen mine eating my zoos. I hope you have a way to deal with the crab, I hate to see animals getting killed over something they do naturally. I am a little far from you, if you are a little closer I would go and take him and put in my fuge.
Please try to find a way not to kill him. I am registered at altisreef.com/forum. say hi if you go there.

I don't want to kill him, but he is pushing his luck.I have some Old BAY seasoning with his name on it already, so he better back up off the Zoas. I am trying to find a home for him., some with a nice fuge big enough to keep him happy and feed. edwin

I've never seen any of my emeralds eat a Zoanthid. I have seen them eat around the base of a zoanthid and knock it off the rock. I thought he was eating them because i saw a frag slowly disappearing. I was about to yank him out of there when i noticed behind the frag inbetween some rocks all the zoanthids he knocked off were sitting LOL. Guess his claws are stronger than super glue. But he didn't eat them.

That may be the case,

but I had a rock that was almost completely covered with polyps. Now it's about 1/2 of that. The only thing I see around the zoas, ever, is this crab:

Notice the rock above him, that was about 3/4 full of polyps, as you can see, they're gone. And look where he is, always around there. He may be innocent, you can have him if you want him. But, for me, sushi or fried is becoming appealing.

I've seen them pick at zoanthids... :( I yanked it right out of there and threw him in the sump... Naughty crab...

I'll take him if you don't mind the fact that he'll be octopus food. My bimac is getting bigger, and the fiddler rabs i've been getting just aren't cutting it...i'll pay shipping to 26187.
