Zoas have white strings attached to polyp

I have a colony of Mean Greens that were doing great up until about 3 days ago and now fail to open. They have white strings attached to the bases of the polyps and only some open (the ones that seem unaffected by the strings). I have tried blowing them off with a baster, manual removal, with no luck. Any ideas what this could be?

Skimmer seems to be doing fine, producing a little less skimmate than usual.

All else is fine, only thing that is different is the feather duster hasn't come out in the past couple of days. See pictures below.

orange polyp they sometimes do that when irritated or stressed but also just for the hell of it.

Yep, suffocating your polyps. I usually give mine a good scrub with a soft brush and rinse.

I had my zoa flipped inside out for about 2 weeks, finally it fixed itself. For about a week it look like it was going to die, but now it's back to normal and looking good.
