Zoas in Canada

if it is then explain about zoa frags on plugs...I am sure its due to the declaration on commercial invoice during entry

as soon as customs sees the word or hears the word coral they will hold it. No questions asked(in most cases). Even if it isn't on the list. By the time it all gets cleared up that the zoas are or aren't on CITES, a week or two will pass (if you are lucky). Will they be alive after two weeks when they release them to you?

You think there is a Canadian equialent to Reefcentral Zach????

Yes. AP is the main reef website in Canada....no other Canuck site even comes close......of course this is all relative; the US has a population of 300 million while Canada has a population of 30 million....you gotta put it into perspective.

With insulated shipping containers (sealed styrafoam) and heat pack(s) there are no issues with shipping at this time of year, especially zoas.

then you've got bigger balls than me...hahah

i'm not going to risk my customer's money and my reputation based on a fragile styrofoam package and a heatpack......UPS has already screwed up one of my packages I sent out to B.C. late last year (mainly cuz they outsource delivery duties to ignorant third party companies in remote areas, FYI).....even though the package did arrive 100% OK, I won't risk it again....i'm not that hungry for cash!

i'd rather the weather be on my side than risk a $300 order making it through -20ºC weather.

Not wanting to start a flame war, but I don't use AP. My Canadian reefkeeping website is Aquariacanada (which is based on my area and is more relevent to my needs). There is also a third large site (Canreef) which has more threads and posts than AP. So, I don't think you can claim that AP is the RC of Canada (RC is without a doubt the dominant reefkeeping board in the world).

In terms of shipping, orders from commercial companies in Canada to large urban areas shouldn't pose a problem, even in winter. If you are talking about delivery to areas outside the big urban centres, that will likely be problamatic even in the summer (when over-heating and accumulation of ammonia, etc. can still damage zoas if they take 2-3 days to arrive.)

check your facts, mate.....that's 100% wrong.
Here are the usage statistics as provided by all three sites:

THREADS:
-----------
AP: 24,441
CR: 30,421
AC: 11,656

POSTS:
---------
AP: 214,068
CR: 236,148
AC: 132,509

USERS:
--------
AP: 8,270
CR: 3,247
AC: 2,792

The facts support my statement: AP is not the biggest site in Canada based on threads or posts although it does have more users.

you're a quick one....but stats like this are useless....how about pulling info on # active threads, # of posts/day, or how long a site has been in operation (has a bearing on total # of threads)

Or...just spend a week on any of them and tell me which one is the busiest....you'll see...

oh well enough of this bollacks.......i reckon these posts will be erased, if not censored in no time quick.

carry on

Zach

Let's be honest, in Canada we check local boards to see when shipments are scheduled to support our local sponsors. If we ever want to learn anything we come to RC. Also, quantity of posts also has little to do with quality of posts boys...

With regard to shipping - I recommend the use a quality insulated shipping container, not a fragile one. These are thick and of high density which work well this time of year (and in the summer) for shipping SPS (which are historically known to be more sensitive to shipping stress than zoas). Chances are most don't use them because they do not know they exist, they do not know where to get them, or because they cost the sender money (not suggesting you are uneducated or strapped for cash in any way).

I will post pics of the good insulated shipping containers if anyone cares to see them.
