Zoas in tank a month no longer open

Hey all,

I have some dragon eyes Ive had in my tank now for about a month. The first week they were fine, then they stopped opening. I moved them to another area, higher flow better light and they opened again for another week, now they are partially opened. Ive observed them at night and there isnt anything that appears to be bothering them. Tank params are as follows as of this morning.

average temp 79
pH 8.0
Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate ~0ppm
Ca 420ppm
alk 9

Everything else in the tank including all other zoas are open and looking healthy. Any body experienced this before? Anyone know what conditions these particular zoos like? Eventhough they arent opening they still appear to be growing. When I got the frag there were 15 or so polyps now there are 27.

Get some Flatworm Exit and some reef iodine. Place the zoas in a container that can hold a quart of tank water and add 2 drops of the flatworm exit and a cap-full of iodine and let them sit for 30 minutes. Shake off excess water and place them in med flow, med to low light.
If there are pests the FWE will kill them and if there is an infection the iodine will help.
If you see any nudis drop off make sure there are no eggs still on the zoas. The FWE will not kill the eggs.

Got some FWE and Iodine earlier and dipped the zoas. I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary drop off when I was done with the dip, just a few amphipods that were on the frag plug, did a verythrough visual inspection and didnt see any signs of Nudi eggs or any physical damage to the polyps. I dont know what to do next. So i'll leave em for a couple days and see if they make any kind of recovery.

I know this is a little off topic, but how do you have your zoas attached to your reef? Are you keeping them on a small piece of live rock or have you not mounted it yet?

They stretch to the rocks that they like and the trunk that's touching the rock they like, it starts sticking to it and slowly comes off they're frag plug.

Everything I have so far I have mounted to a small piece of live rock or frag plug and then either just stuck into a hole in my rock work or epoxied onto the rock face.

All the new frags Ive made Ive cut and then used super glue gel to attach them to rock or frag plug. Ive had fantastic success so far.

I do have one colony that broke off my rockwork and has been growing on my sandbed for a couple months now and is getting to be pretty good size. Eventually Ill cut it into smaller frags and mount it.

I will gladly post some pics if you'd like. Hope that answers your question!
