Zoas/Palys and T5s Show Some PICS!

Is it possible to get these sick colors using T5's?

I have some zoas and they have not been doing as well since I got the T5's. I used to have PCs and it was hit and miss.

I will include some pics shortly but my zoos don't seem to grow outward like an expanding clump. They scatter all over. Anyone ever seen this happen?

I have also recently moved to a larger tank. I now have a 75 with 30 gal sump/fuge. They were not doing great in the old tank either.

My lights are a TEK Fixture 4ft 4 lamp. All D-D Geissman bulbs. 1 Pure Actinic, 2 Actinic + , 1 AquaBlue

Yesterday I took the AquaBlue out and added a Pure Actinic to see the difference.

Thanks All for the Great help.

You need to give them time to acclimate to the t5s. I have a 6 bulb tek and it does take some time for all your corals to get used to them. I also think 2 actinics and 2 actinic+ is too much blue. I suggest you keep at least one aquablue, maybe even a daylight bulb. Once your corals have gotten used to the new lights you will absolutley love them.

Try to put them lower in your tank. I had some of mine bleach out. I had nice choclate Pallythoas turn bright white. Any Zoas that got bleachd I moved to the bottom of my tank and they have turned back to there original bright color ..

I use 4 - 39watt T-5's over my 38 gallon.

Very Nice. Love those Zoas!! Good pics too!! Thanks, Thats the kind of encouragement that I was looking for Mayor. "The proof is in the Pudding" or pictures.

How long have you had these under the T5's?

Thanks for the comments!
I've had the zoas anywhere from 1 to 5 months. (Tank is only 6 moths old) I've found growth really kicks off after a month or so. Here's a progression on one of the zoas:

May 2 (difference in color is much more due to my inexperience in photographing the tank at the time)

I switched over to 6 t-5 from 2x175 and vho. My zoos look great. You need to acclimate them properly( I am not saying that you didn't). Any change of light should be slowly. I started with half my photoperiod and worked my way back to normal and everything looks fine.

Peter,

That is a great "color up".

What kind of lighting is that under?

6x39w ATI T5s with Ice Cap reflectors.

I had taken some pics, trying to learn how to use my camera, Canon Digital Rebel XT. Will post some soon when I get some good ones.

I just got that camera too... :) I like it so far, but still don't know what the heck I'm doing with it most of the time... :D
