Zoas placement question

Can you place them on a magnetic plug and attach on the return wall or glass and grow them that way?

as long as they like the area they're in i.e. just enough flow/light, absolutely.

not sure of your set up but be careful not to have them too close to the overflow, if they grow over it they will probably clog it.
 
It would be midline down on the wall. Its 120 gallons. Trying to build a zoa garden on the 2 return walls

again shouldn't be a problem as long as they are happy there, which they should be, zoas pretty much like anywhere in the tank unless they're getting blasted.

it will take a while but just be careful about the overflows, a simple razor will be able to trim them back so its a big deal, would just hate to hear a story a year from now about a guy who clogged his overflow with a zoa garden ;)
