zoo tank updates

It's an engineer gobie, sometimes referred to as a convict gobie. It's a very cool fish but due to its tendency to burrow and excavate, it can topple rockwork if not well situated.

I think it maybe a yellow engineer goby yes, but not a convict goby...

I just read about it, but have not seen any yellow ones yet online like the one I used to have/in the picture.

I just received word that Echo-tech will be sending us two new "wet sides" replacements for our Vortech pumps free of charge. very cool.

hello all

hello all

you may or may not remember me.. :D nice to see the tank you have done really well with it.. i hope to get down to the zoo one day again and check it out in person... keep up the good public display...

Of course I remember you. I will always remember the day (can you believe that is almost two years ago?) that we carried that beast of a tank down the stairs to the pump room. Thanks to the fact that you provided us with an affordable tank as well as the donations from some aquatic supply companies, we were able to pull this off. The project continues to do well and your tank is holding up fine. If you are ever down this way, be sure to give a shout for a personalized tour.

Dave (Pirc), Adam, Steve and I worked on the tank today. We removed and cleaned the t-5 lamps and reflectors. They were pretty covered with crud from water splashing. Now that we remedied the source, they should stay pretty clear. We also cleaned the skimmer pump and impeller. We did some other basic maintenance tasks and adjusted water chemistry. Everything looks good. I'll get glass cut this week for the seahorse overflow so I am hoping we can get started next weekend on setting it up.

All the stuff for putting the seahorse tank together is now at the zoo. The drilled tank, plate glass for overflow, bulheads, pvc plumbing parts etc. Now we need to find out when the dynamic plumbing and design duo of Nate and Vince can make it down to work their craft.

Also we got two new Vortech "wetsides" I installed one yesterday.

Funny you should ask. Batman and Robin aka the dynamic duo, aka Nate and Vince, have graciously agreed to meet Sunday morning at around 9:30 to plumb in the seahorse tank. Folks are welcome to watch them debate over which one is Batman. Hopefully they are able to get some of the plumbing done:)

Haha

We all know I am batman and Vince is robin...
